HISTORY

In 1976 the Union of Ontario Indians, through Letters Patent, created the Union of Ontario Indians Development Fund, Inc. as a separate corporation to receive charitable funds and issue charitable receipts.

In 1999, the Union of Ontario Indians Development Fund, Inc. began the process of seeking funds in an effort to provide much needed dollars to the communities and citizens it serves.

In 2006, the Union of Ontario Indians Development Fund, Inc. changed its name to the Anishinabek Nation 7th Generation Charity.  The name change is symbolic in that our people – the Anishinabek – are striving to achieve success on the revitalization and preservation of our culture, language; our very ‘being’ as the distinct people we are and have always been.

Our Mission

As the official charitable fundraising arm of the Anishinabek Nation, the Anishinabek Nation 7th Generation Charity (AN7GC) is committed to improving the quality of life of Anishinabek Nation citizens by providing support where no other funding exists.

Our Vision

The Anishinabek Nation 7th Generation Charity will help create educated, healthy, and culturally enriched citizens that will continue to grow a stable, strong, and prosperous Anishinabek Nation.

What we do

The AN7GC is committed to improving the quality of life of Anishinabek citizens by providing financial support, where no other funding exists, in the areas of Education, Health, Youth, Elders, Culture, Social, Emergency Crisis and Disaster Relief.

The AN7GC is a self-sufficient charity relying fully on the success of its fundraising initiatives in order to support its goals and objectives. We raise funds through various fundraising initiatives:

  •   Annual Anishinabek Evening of Excellence
  •   Annual Anishinabek Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament
  •   Anishinabek Catch the Ace
  •   The Union of Ontario Indians ‘Giving at Work’ Program
  •   Private Donations

The funds raised by the AN7GC are disbursed throughout all of the Anishinabek Nation’s 39 First Nation communities through a ‘Grant Program’ whereby citizens apply for grants and must meet various criteria to be considered for approval.

We also provide everyone access to our ‘Hotel Discount Program’ as well as our partnership with Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Through these programs, citizens are provided with discounts at our partner hotels and on car rentals.  A portion of these sales come directly to the AN7GC.
